Aktar feature
Uploads that sort, replace and report themselves
Images go to Screenshots and builds to Builds without picking each time. A fixed PDF takes the place of the old one under the same link. A webhook tells your team when a build is up. Aktar's destinations work as profiles that know what to do with each file.
Updates arrive the day they're released. Windows may warn you, since the app isn't signed yet. How to install
- Mac0.14.0
- Windows0.7.0
- iPhone & iPad1.6.0
- Android1.6.0
Small decisions on every upload
Which bucket does this go to? Which folder? Did I already send a link to the old version? Every upload comes with a few small choices, and getting one wrong means a link in the wrong place or a broken link in someone's inbox.
Aktar makes those choices once, per destination, and then follows them for every upload, from the menu bar, the clipboard shortcut, Finder, the Share menu or Shortcuts.
How it works
- 1
Say what goes where
A destination's Use For picks the kinds of files and extensions that belong there.
- 2
Add what happens after
After Upload runs webhooks and scripts after each upload and replace.
- 3
Upload without choosing
Anything uploaded without naming a destination goes where it belongs, with that destination's path and link.
What you get
-
The right destination
Images, Videos, Audio, Documents, Archives or your own extensions. The drop area lists where files go.
-
A shortcut per destination
Give a destination its own Keyboard Shortcut that uploads the clipboard straight there.
-
Replace a file, keep its link
Replace File… writes a new file to the same key, so every link you've shared shows the new version.
-
Caches cleared for you
A Short cache time makes a replaced file show up within about a minute, and a Cloudflare token clears it at once.
-
Webhooks and scripts
After each upload, with the link, the key and the file: post to chat, update a ticket, start a deploy.
-
Shortcuts, CLI and agents
On the Mac, Shortcuts has Upload File, Upload Clipboard, Replace File and Get Recent Uploads. The aktar CLI and AI agents use the same rules.
Destinations as profiles
Each destination keeps its own bucket, path, copy format, link type, Delete after and image settings, and several destinations can share one bucket. With Use For, Aktar picks the destination for you: a screenshot goes to Screenshots with a Markdown link, a .dmg goes to Builds with a plain URL, a PDF goes to Client share with a 7-day temporary link.
Replacing without breaking links
Fixed a typo in a PDF you already shared? Replace File… in History or the bucket view uploads the new file to the same key. The entry keeps its place with a Replaced date and a fresh thumbnail, and its short link stays the same. A watched folder can do the same on its own when a file changes.
CDNs keep files for a while, so the old version may still show. Under Replacing Files, a short cache time keeps that to about a minute, and an optional Cloudflare zone ID and API token clear the cache right away.
What a webhook gets
Webhooks are sent over https (plain http only for this computer or the local network) and don't follow redirects to another host. Scripts run from Aktar's scripts folder. Both get the upload's link, short link, key and file, so the next step in your workflow doesn't have to ask.
Questions
What happens when a file matches no destination?
It goes to the destination selected in the menu bar, as before. Use For only decides when an upload doesn't name a destination itself.
Does Replace File work with any provider?
Yes, it writes to the same key on any S3-compatible storage. The cache purge is for Cloudflare; on other CDNs the short cache time does the job.
Is this on Windows and phones too?
Use For, Replace File and After Upload are in Aktar for Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android, and Share to Another Device carries them with the destination. Shortcuts actions are on the Mac.
Can a script change what gets copied?
No, scripts and webhooks run after the upload and get its details. To change what's copied, use a custom copy format. See what gets copied.
