Cloudflare R2 in a minute
Connecting Cloudflare R2 used to mean copying an account ID, a bucket name, an access key, a secret and a public URL from Cloudflare's dashboard. Aktar 0.16.0 needs one thing instead: an API token, made from a link that fills in its permissions for you. Aktar does the rest. If you're on 0.3.0 or later, Aktar offers it automatically.

One token, the rest is done for you
In Settings › Destinations, choose Set Up Cloudflare R2… and then Open Cloudflare. Cloudflare's token page opens with R2 Storage: Edit and Zone: Read already chosen; create the token, copy it and paste it into Aktar. Pick the account, a new bucket (Aktar suggests aktar) or one you already have, and where public links point: the bucket's r2.dev address, which works right away, or a subdomain of a domain on your Cloudflare account, like files.example.com. Set Up creates the bucket, turns on public links, saves the destination and runs Test Connection. R2's free tier covers 10 GB.
The token isn't kept
Cloudflare's S3 keys come from an API token: the token's ID is the access key and a hash of its value is the secret. Aktar makes those two, keeps them in your Keychain like any other destination's keys, and forgets the token. You can delete the token in Cloudflare whenever you want to cut Aktar's access. Aktar for Windows and the iPhone and Android app have the same setup.
All changes in this release
New
- Set Up Cloudflare R2… in Settings › Destinations: one pasted API token creates the bucket or uses an existing one, turns on public links (the r2.dev address or your own domain) and saves the destination with its keys. The main button when there's no destination yet.
Improved
- A destination set up this way tests itself right after it's saved, and a domain that's still being connected says so.
